Sixteen (or is it eighteen?) years after All About Receiving Cash opened their doors, there is still no plausible explanation for the Wizard's debut in Calgary. While he was certainly well-qualified to coach dodgeball, he had no discernable qualifications or experience to indicate his suitability to run a new treatment facility. AARColytes never tire of repeating the mantra that children were dying on the streets of Calgary until the Wiz rolled into town.
There are many questions that arise from this legend about AARC. The Rotary Club had bankrolled Kids of the Canadian West, and good Dr. Atkinson was appointed the head of it's board. Dr. Atkinson had put his offspring into Kids. The Wizard was working at Kids prior to the creation of K of CW, in spite of the fact that it was an abusive cult, rife with criminal acts ranging from fraud to assault and unlawful confinement. The K of CW project collapsed when prosecutors blew into Kids down in the States.
However, the same backers of Kids, the rotary club, bankrolled AARC which opend a year and a half after K of CW was to open. Lo and behold, the Kids program was implemented by a former Kids employee and using former Kids clients as staff, and bankrolled by the same folks who tried to bring us Kids.
So, the folks who claimed that Calgary's streets were piled high with dead teenaged junkies, and so we needed Kids, gave us AARC.
So who were all of these dead kids? The Calgary parents who sent their offspring to Kids gave us AARC, by way of the Rotary Club. But the Calgary Kids inmates were mostly adults. Who hadn't died, obviously, from drug abuse.
So aside from people who had sent their offspring to Miller Newton, who else would have known about the Wiz? AARC legend says that people were so desperate for help for their children that the Wiz had to travel to CY from Vancouver in the period between the death of K of CW and the birth of AARC. So why bring in the Wiz, who is fresh out of Kids at this point, unless these folks want Kids?
Remember, Dear Readers, before AARC opens, the Wiz is just another freak from Kids. Who would want him to work with children, and why?
Why, after all of these years does this matter? It matters because AARC has been sold by word of mouth and promoted by salesmanship since before it's inception. But who did the selling?

Scientology

An online onslaught against Scientology
A VICIOUS cult run by cynical fraudsters, or a sincerely held religious belief persecuted by zealots? That is the long-standing row about Scientology, founded by the late science-fiction writer, L. Ron Hubbard. In some countries, such as Germany, the group is watched by the security services. In others, such as America and Australia, it has won charitable status as a religion.
Until now the fight could mostly be seen as one-sided. Scientology's lawyers are vigorous litigants. The group argues that its internal materials (which claim, among other things, that expensive courses of treatment can help rid people of infestation by alien souls from an extinct civilisation) are commercially confidential and protected by copyright. They react sharply to any perceived libel.
As a result, public critics of what they derisively term “$cientology” risk expensive legal battles. For example, a new unauthorised biography of Tom Cruise by a British author, Andrew Morton, contains detailed and highly critical material about the film star's involvement in Scientology. It is a bestseller in America but has not been published in Britain. The publisher, St Martin's Press, has even asked internet booksellers not to ship it to foreign customers. Though Scientology representatives vehemently deny breaking any laws, critics have claimed that they experience intensive harassment and intimidation.
Now Scientology is under attack from a group of internet activists known only as Anonymous. Organised from a Wikipedia-style website (editable by anyone) and through anonymous internet chat rooms, “Project Chanology”, as the initiative is known, presents no easy target for Scientology's lawyers. It is promoting cyberwarfare techniques normally associated with extortionists, spies and terrorists. Called “distributed denial of service attacks”, these typically involve using networks of infected computers to bombard the target's websites and servers with bogus requests for data, causing them to crash. Even governments find this troublesome.
Anonymous is also hoping to galvanise public opinion with a mass “real-world” protest outside every Scientology office worldwide on February 10th. But its best weapon may be ridicule. The group got going in reaction to efforts to ban an internal Scientology video of Mr Cruise that leaked onto the internet. The star appears to discuss his beliefs with a degree of incoherence and exaggeration that might lead some to question Scientology's effects on its adherents' sanity. A Scientology spokesman says it has been selectively edited. Several internet sites have taken it down after threats of lawsuits. But it keeps popping up.

the Republicab Party is the most notable chicken. their polcies resulted in the war on drugs.
It's interesting that Mitt Romney's fund raising campaign were headed by mel semblar and robert litchfeild.
mel founded straight, and bob founded wwasps
both were chickens that produced alot of eggs. eventhough these eggs were infected with a virus.
it's also interesting that the only egg that was incubated in canada was in the ultra consevative province of alberta.

There is no doubt that AARC was heavily dependent on the work of a couple of MLAs: Diane Mirosh back in '93, and Paddy Meade from '02 until now. Mirosh presented the testiomonials from the Wizard's Union Insitute cronies to sell AARC, and then Meade ensured the steering of AADAC money into AARC. AARC pulls in somewhere in the neighborhood of three hundred thousand dollars per year from Provincial coffers, in addition to the two million lump they received for their expansion.
Interesting, as the program is run by a man who had literally no qualifications at the time AARC opened, and two years later obtained a mail-order PhD. And, as always, not the Wiz, nor any of the clinical staff are licensed medical professionals. Perhaps the AADAC money is used to help AARC in "working to expand our reach."

Wow, it's like N. America is dominated by cults. Is it any wonder that in Edmonton, the C of S is situated across the road from the courthouse. Hmmm. Watch out for protests world wide on 10th February. Any chance that Anonymous on Fornits can bring about similar protests against all these schools?
-
No, it's not at all like North America is dominated by cults. It's like AARC is a cult that operates in the same manner as Straight, from which it descended. That's what it's like. Straight wasn't shut down by protests. It was plagued with lawsuits and criminal charges, which drew negative media attention. That was also how AARC's parent Kids was shut down, and it is how AARC will be shut down. Wow. You forgot ha ha ha ha and the smiley faces.

Kids was required to have a license, Kids was fraudlent for charging Medicaid for services they were not providing.
AARC is not required to have a drug treatment license and they are charging Alberta Health Care nothing.
With no one suing AARC I don't see how they will come to the same demise as Kids.
-
AARC does not charge Alberta Health directly because there are no professionals at AARC to whom fees could be paid for services. They do however, get hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Provincial government each year through AADAC, which is in fact an arm of Health and Wellness. In addition, they received a cool couple million of taxpayer's money to expand the temple.
The lawsuits against Kids on behalf of Lulu Corter and Rebeccah Erlich had nothing to do with defrauding Medicaid. Newton in fact settled with Medicaid. Individual former clients sued and these suits crushed the life from Kids.
Nobody sued Kids until they sued Kids, just as nobody has sued AARC until they sue AARC. That last part of your statement is akin to saying it won't rain tomorrow because it didn't rain today.

With AARC riding on the shirt tails of the Minister of Justice what prosecutor who values their livelihood is going to stand against the program no matter what information/evidence is presented before them?

You might to ask Gordon Wong, QC.
He's the chief prosecutor for Calgary. You can reach him at (403)297-8444
or fax at 297-4311
or even e-mail at gordon.wong@gov.ab.ca
Of course, he'll tell you that if you have a complaint about AARC you should go to the police.
And if you go to the police, and they recommend prosecution?
Gordon Wong still has the discretion to say they won't prosecute.
And why will he say that?
Because of the usual pat answer that "It will be unlikely to obtain a conviction" or a variation on that.
You see, in Canada, if the Crown determines not to proceed with charges, or to stay charges or withdraw charges, they do not need to give reasons.
The only solution is to launch a private prosecution. But even then, the Crown can stay the proceedings without explanation.
But starting a private prosecution, with as much fanfare as you can muster, might be all you need to close the place down, or at least dry up the source of funding.
And what better time than now in the middle of a Provincial election ---
You have until March 3rd...

the only reason AARC has not been sued is because prosecutors do not act on bogus claims. However, that being said there are always those who can convince naive people including the media ie. freelance writers that there is some authenticity to their claims and might be able to do that with a cop or prosecutor. In my opinion it would be ideal if one of the sick little puppies who says they have a claim is able to launch a lawsuit because AARC will then force things to come out so they can demonstrate what sort of genesis the BS comes from. Meanwhile people keep getting helped their, Vause ignores this tiny crowd of cretins and continues to help people who are eternally grateful!!!!
The stampede breakfast this year sure witnessed that - Vause being his hilarious self and clients, staff and supporters having a ton of laughs. OH right they are under some spell . . .. . i forgot. Amazing how many credible citizens support that place . . . hmmmmmm strange how that just continues to happen

I have met three women who were sexually assaulted while in the custody of AARC. Two of these assaults took place at the centre, and one in a host home. I have met only one former AARC prisoner who was in AARC voluntarily. All of the others were held in AARC against their will, which is against the law. I fail to see what the antics of a cult leader and his followers at a breakfast have to do with the fact that young women held in AARC are at great risk of assault. This same cult leader learned to run his particular scam at Kids in New Jersey, which was sued out of existence. It's not surprising that the Wiz put on a comedy routine, since the founders of two of AARC's ancestral cults, Synanon and the Seed, were failed comedians.
-
oooohh, how hurtful LOL
so, in an organization where people are SUPPOSEDLY assaulted, tortured? maybe and held against their will - dontcha think all these people would have a hard time enjoying themselves. What I witnessed was a HUGE group of people truly enjoying themselves, being authentic and unrestricted from enjoying themselves and also whether you like it or not, VAUSER is hilarious and free from worrying about anything that AARC may be doing TO kids and their families. THey are right on task of helping more and more kids and their families every year and you, my friend are a mere spit in the wind.
-
I always assumed that the Wiz is free from worrying about anything that AARC may be doing to kids and their families. He's a remorseless sociopath.
Glad to hear the congregation was being authentic and unrestricted from enjoying themselves. People should feel at ease when they attend functions at their church.
-
sociopath!!! you continue to amaze. . . . absolutely incredible
You haven't even met the person. You are getting your information from someone wh went through AARc over 10 years ago and YOU are the obsessed one not her!!! speaks volumes of your level of mental health and your marriage!

No. I'm getting my information from seeing a complete amateur take millions of dollars to perform a medical service for which he is not qualified nor trained to do. Additionally, he is a proven liar, and shows cunning and calculation in manipulating others for his own gain, with total disregard for the harmful impact his actions have on others. The host of former prisoners describing identical predatory acts by the Wizard tended to sway my views a little as well. The fact that he tried to open a branch of Kids here, and then stole the Kids program and opened it in spite of the criminal nature of Kids doesn't help the Wiz's case either.
