« on: May 21, 2005, 11:24:00 AM »
Please post any knowledge you may have of the winter
1944 battle around and spec 20 miles north of Naples Italy.
Any of you guys got relatives from 337th art/ 88th blue devils that shared any stories?
I know this is long shot but worth an ask.

I have one old friend who's brother wound up as a POW held by the Allies during the war. I really should drop him a line, too.

When a religion is good, I conceive it will support itself; and when it does not support itself, and God does not take care to support it so that its professors are obliged to call for help of the civil power, 'tis a sign, I apprehend, of its being a bad one.

I know. My friend grew up in Boston and went Army. Survived the Normandy Landing. I even translated his comendation that he got from the French government a few years back.

But his brother (maybe a cousin, I'll have to ask him) grew up in Itally, went military when they held a gun to his head and landed up a POW after the war. Said it wasn't half bad. They worked around the countryside, ate pretty well and were able to correspond w/ friends and family.

I just haven't kept in touch w/ the guy since we moved up here. He hates talking on the phone and writing letters... but that's no excuse. I should drop him a line anyway and see how he's doing. Thanks for the excuse.

Vain are the thousand creeds that move men's hearts, unutterably vain, worthless as wither'd weeds.
