Sasafras, could it have been a very realistic dream? Maybe not. There's a significant week or more from my daze in Straight that I just can't remember. I had run away and just hitchhiked around for like a month or more. Then I got talked into going to a halfway house, then from there to my sisters house. I vaguely remember the plane trip to Atlanta, where my brother and his wife met me at the airport to make sure I didn't escape. Then I remember getting my nose busted in an intake room back at the Program in Florida. But everything in between is missing.

It sucks when decent, hardworking people get screwed over like that. Because that means pricks like us don?t stand a chance.

If you don't mind my asking, what cult were you in?

Also, one other thought. And this gets into the creepy spooky realm that I generally mark up to "things I'll never, ever understand."

The way you're describing these memories reminds me of a flashforward that I had one time. I was just on the verge of sleep when this dream (or whatever it was) made me sit bolt upright. The whole moment lasted maybe a couple of seconds. I knew I was at a funeral. I had a detailed recollection of things like the lighting fixtures, faces and my opinions of their owners, clothing... things like that. I knew the man ahead of me and to my right was my mate and I knew it wasn't my current boyfriend. And I had a baby on my hip. A big baby, chubby, in a pretty, flowing yellow dress. I know these details are fairly accurate because I described them to my then boyfriend. Woke him up to tell him cause I just wanted a wittness.

Well that scene happened, to the last detail, around 2 or 3 years later. The baby is now 15 and the mate is now my husband. But I hadn't ever even met him yet. Add to that that, somewhere around the same time, he swears he saw my face while haleucenating in the hospital after eating belladonnas.

The college idealists who fill the ranks of the environmental movement seem willing to do absolutely anything to save the biosphere, except take science courses and learn something about it.
