I was wondering if anyone from STRAIGHT Yorba Linda knew any of the below listed teens as
California teens were rooted in the El Paso KIDS
program before they were relocated via chartered jet to pilot the opening of the KIDS program in Yorba Linda.

Many came and left prior to KIDS transitioning to STRAIGHT and I am curious of those that were in KIDS of El Paso, how many and whom remained in the program when KIDS of SoCal became STRAIGHT. Some of the people that I was wondering about include:

Cla*ss**n, Janelle
C*st*, Trina
Cr*mpt*n, Henry
D*r**gh, Brett
D*r**gh, Marcie
G*rc**, Cynthia
G*rc**, Raquel
G*m*z, Andy
J*ns*n, Jens
J*ns*n, Steve
J*ns*n, Tava
J*n*s, Stephanie
K*nn*dy, Carl
M*ck*y, Julie
McK*nn*y, Tracy
M**l*, Tara
M*ll*r, Eric
M*rchl*nd, Joanne
N*ch*ls, Gary
Osb**rn, Rick
P*rk*r, Lisa
P*nd*rs*n, Tracy
P*t*rs*n, Theresa
R**d, Craig
R**d, John
R**z, Bob
R**z, Sam
V*ld*s, Aaron
V*ld*s, Richard

Thanks again in advance for any info.

Henry and Carl were there. Actually, Carl and Bob were allready graduated from Kids and came as graduates on staff when the program was changing to Straight. We just had graduates from Kids at first (our program only) and then graduates from different Straights came. We were not told what was going on, one day we went into the building late after getting some secret phone call and the staff were gone. We just had graduates. Maybe some oldcomers knew what was going on but as a newcomer I had no clue. And of course you could never ask questions about something like that. I think everyone was too scared to even dare ask what was going on. I was so happy to have some normal people on the rapstool. At least they seemed kind of normal to me after being in Kids for a year. Some of the graduates were really cool. They didn't scream at us all day. They even made us stop cussing eachother out. I think they must of thought we were nuts. People used to get ripped for the dumbest things. It was like living in the twilight zone. I actually didn't mind straight that much after the complete hell of being in Kids. By that I mean that it was better for me but I'm sure that was not the case for everyone.

As far as I know he was in Kids of BC while the Kids of Southern Ca. was there. He came several times during the year I was in Kids of So.Ca. He was completely insane. The staff were even so freaked out before he was coming I knew every time before he even got there. They would scream at us and tell us don't say this or that and make up new rules. One time he came he set back the entire girls side so we had no girl oc's. We had to go home with staff. I found out later that the plan when Kids left Ca. was that they were going to turn us all over to our parents but a bunch of parents came in and kicked the staff out of the building and had the graduates take over untill Straight did.

I was in Straight, early 80s.  Newton left and opened KIDS of Bergen County......I'm surprised to hear that KIDS became Straight because Newton created KIDS after leaving/being kicked out of Straight.  I'm trying to put the timeline together so I can figure out where he was at certain times.  Seems that the worst of what people went through was when he was present, either as permanent staff or just sweeping through for one of his check-ups.  I know he's the worst human being I've EVER run into, BAR NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!  The rage I feel for that man will never be able to leave me. :flame:  :flame:

Miller Newton was in Kids of Bergen County in Hackensack towards the end of 1988 through 1990.  I know because I was there also.  He was there almost all the time. Once in a while he would leave for a brief period of time. Come back and say that he was at the "other" kids program and they were doing much better than we were.
What a little man.

The LA Times wrote when Kids was closed down for child abuse & Straight moved in "It was the same DOG different leash." Authorities Worry!

I remember a few kids who said they were in the Kids program.  But I was only in Straight 4 days.
