do you regularly wipe records of IP addresses? are you required to keep records?
That's something we're looking into. We're considering setting up a bi-monthly wipe (or even not storing IPs) if it's legal to do so and wouldn't interfere with our immunity.
I would highly recommend you get on top of that to preserve fornit's effectiveness and the security of it's members. There seems to be trouble brewing, we have become too effective for the TTI's liking and they are gathering forces to bring us down. The next chapter in the history of fornits is going to make our problems with sue scheff and thewho look completely trivial. Fornits used to be all talk. Nothing was ever accomplished until our role in hidden lake's demise; after which other institutions began falling like dominos (only partially due to our work, but we still played a fairly major role). We have gone from a group of angry kids, parents, and ex-staff who would just sit around and complain, and have become a group of highly effective, somewhat organized group of activists. Just look at what has been happening with CALO, ALA, and specifically your experience with benchmark last year. We are more active now, more effective now, therefore we need to be better protected. The harder we fight, the harder they will try to fight us back.
