: "If young people do not smoke pot, they simply do not use any other illegal drug; to reject marijuana is to reject the whole drug culture." Robert DuPont speaking before the Texan's War on Drugs Committee. In attendence was Ross Perot. I wonder if Melvina Fay, formerly executive director of Houston's Drug Free Business Initiative, today the executive director of the Drug Free America Foundation, was there?

Interesting little aside. I think it was the book Drug Crazy that covered DuPont's early work at NIDA. Initially, he was for decriminalization of Marijuana. He was actually hobnobbing at a NORML function and was seen doing a line of coke. Some time later, frustrated by his hypocratic turn-about, Kevin Zees spilled the beans to the press. That got NORML in big, big trouble because no one would show up for their parties any more; they had lost their expectation of privacy.
